Chaos in KL last Saturday

and all thank to the big head microphone..

Actually this chaos happen in a good manner.. Despite the jam everywhere, road block in surrounding area, everyone, every crowd seems to ignore it and keep packing and stuffing into the crowd..

It is not just any type of event or concert.. It was a mega karaoke that unite everyone.. Despite raining cats and dogs, it failed to disperse the crowd.. The crowd were thrown with surprise after surprise with the special appearance of Suki, Reshmonu, Tomok, other local band, and not least Bunkface, the band who sang through my window, the song that causes a buzz among Malaysian..

But before that the crowd was greeted with KL Stompers

Jump

Watched the premier of Jump at e@Curve on Monday night

Produce by Stephen Chow, thus that's what captured my attention to catch the movie..
It brought the audience back to the "kampung" days where everyone live a dream beyond their "kampung".. and once out to the city crazy and insane stuff started to happen.. There are some twist in the movie too which I find it quite interesting.. The best part of the movie is on the Street dance competition at the end of the show, really cool and awesome, make sure your eye is wide open for it..

Rising star Kitty Zhang Yuqi, who made her movie debut in Stephen Chow's quirky comedy "CJ7" as the ordinary plain Jane school teacher, takes on a much bigger role playing the lead in "Jump", directed by Stephen Fung and produced by Stephen Chow. Going back in time, this hip hop dance flick was delayed for reshoots due to the heavily-publicised sex scandal outbreak of its male lead Edison Chen. Since then, Edison has been replaced by Leon Jay Williams who joins Kitty as she struts her moves on the dance floor.

Featuring a young village girl named Phoenix (Zhang), her father, a Kung Fu Master, constantly trains her in martial arts ever since she was child. However, her real passion has always been dancing. When an offer to work in the big city arrives, Phoenix leaps at the opportunity and leaves her hometown for Shanghai. She works at a garment factory by day and takes a part-time job at night at a local dance school, where she secretly learns the techniques and sparks a fairy tale love story with wealthy, handsome playboy Ron (Williams), who owns the dance school.

The opening scene kicks off to a promising start with an interesting musical number by three high pitched singing ladies in the field. Initially, it puts a smile on your face, but when it repeats occasionally throughout the show, it pushes over its limits of amusement. We see nothing new here in terms of storyline, but at least there's a brief moment of fresh air during the final dance-off between China and Korea's dance team. The dance sequence at the end by the Korean dancers will knock your socks off with creative movements involving a chair and a walking cane. Apparently, that was the only memorable scene from the movie. Moreover, it rarely has its laugh out loud moments, except during a pretty wild game of musical chairs and of a transvestite with an itchy boob.

Daniel Wu makes a special appearance as a plastic surgeon, while Stephen Fung manages to sneak in his own cameo with the transvestite. However, the ultimate question here is - can Kitty Zhang bust a move? Unfortunately, no. Stiff as wood, hip hop can never be her cup of tea. Frankly, Phoenix's passion seemed to be more towards singing and skipping around. So trying and get a good grasp of her true love for dance was tough to swallow. Meanwhile, the small-town girl behaviour is overdone with excessive maniacal laughter in almost everything she finds amusing, making you wish she had stayed put in her village.

"Jump" simply falls short of entertainment, making it seem more of a 'skip' than anything.

Personally I think that this Kitty look very much alike Cecilia Chueng, don't you think so?

Ninja Assassin

Last night I went to the premier screening of Ninja Assassin at GSC Mid Valley, one of the place that I don't really like but heck it was one of the movie that I wanted to watch, and so I was there to collect the passes.. It has been long since I last receive a nicely printed passes like this one, and is excited about it too..

You see, why the poster doesn't show the full image of Rain is because he had a terrible hairdo in the movie, and they've decided that that is the best for him..

Ok cut the crap short.. Raizo (staring Rain) was raise from an orphanage house (it was called Ozunu Clan) which was claimed to be kidnapping young kids and train them to be assassin.. True enough they were assign to multiple assassination job when they grew up and it was all the "big brother" job to be exact..

Back to the clan, they were forceful with no mercy even though they were still kids, training were harsh and blood is a promise in every battle simulation.. Once mistake is done, suffer is assured.. There were flesh cutting, stomach "fingering", canning till bleed, and plenty more.. Raizo then was haunted by merciless execution of his best friend (I don't know if it is counted as girlfriend), and he escape the clan.. Raizo was then treated as betrayal and was wanted by the clan..

Raizo too stop some assassination by interrupting them while they were on an assignment.. That was how Raizo stumble upon Mika in Berlin and he wanted to use Mika to get him to the clan and kill everyone there.. Some struggle and tweak on the middle of the movie and there he was back in the clan again and time for some blood party.. I guess guys will enjoy the part where limbs were chopped off where girls will enjoy the part where Rain is topless.. Lol

The killing korean pop artist

Ninja Assassin doesn't seems to meet my expectation (or what viewer have been expecting from the trailer).. And therefore I would say it is just 2.5/5 for the movie..

Ninja Assassin somehow make me feels that I'm watching horror (ghost) movie because of the way they sneak into places and the way they whisper, isn't that a firm scene in every horror movie? Lol..

Ninja amazed me

Ninja distributed by RAM Entertainment Malaysia was release here in Malaysia by mid Oct 2009..

..and surprisingly it is still on major cinema till today.. What surprise me most is not because of the duration of its screening period but it seems that everytime I wanted to watch this movie with the in season pass that I won, it is full or almost full hall.. Perhaps people mistakenly thought that Ninja is Ninja Assassin? Well at least that was what I've been told from a few friends who was disappointed and claimed that they got conned.. You see Ninja Assassin will only be release this week 26 Nov 2009, so peeps prepare your cash and ready for its release this time.. for real..

Ninja has quite a typical storyline, it tells about a ninja training center that pick up orphans and train them in preserving the art of ninja.. So they have this ancient box where all the most powerful and deadly ninja weapon is stored.. It is pretty much predictable at this point of time that the box is gonna be the aim of someone from the center itself and also someone else will have to prevent it from losing into the hand of evil too..

Still I think it could be rated as 2/5 for the muscular and nicely shaped body and the coolness of the ninja attire..

Will be heading for Ninja Assassin tonight..

Watching the poster itself kinda remind me of the good old days where gambling is one of the main theme in many chinese movie, and it kinda remind me of stephen chow too..

Anyone still remember that? :p

Anyway back to the movie Poker King

Louis' dad runs a casino, but passed away. Lau then took over by eliminating Louis but little did he know that Louis is actually testing his skill operating the casino..

Personally think that there is nothing much to shout about this movie, but seeing that it has all the good actor and actress in it, it is worth while rating it too..

Sadly it wouldn't get any black jack from me but it still worth 2.5/5 though..

Yet another interesting movie - Astro Boy

With all the hype going on, roadshow every week, and photo shooting, never have I thought that I would love the movie Astro Boy..

Those who are born in early 80s should be familiar with this little robot boy who have ultimate power like other super hero..

Even since young I've always heard of this title, never have I landed my hand on any of its comic and never have I landed my eye on any of its cartoon, I don't know why so don't ask me about it..

Went to 1Utama on Wednesday night to catch the premier screening and was impress with the movie, and this is the 2nd unexpected animation that I've actually enjoy this week..

Story is simple and easy to understand and also straight forward.. At the beginning of the show, it tries to give the audience the idea that Dr Tenma (voiced by Nicholas Cage) love his boy so much named Toby (voiced by Freddie Highmore) and how his boy got kill.. Wanted his boy back so badly that he make a dupe of it and power by the blue energy.. Everything seems to be so perfect but Dr Tenma can't take it anymore as Astro boy is just a robot with Toby's memory.. Then Astro boy somehow got into the world beneath them.. From there he learn and communicate with different people..

Since Astro boy has the blue energy which the next to be president wanted so much, he was capture back to extract it back for the president.. Dr Tenma then refuse and causing the president to use the red energy which is evil to get the job done..

Fight assured and there were tons of flying, shooting, and plenty more..

Like all good animation movie, it too carry moral value to the audience..

Shall rate this a 5/5 star.. Bravo bravo

I've landed on Planet 51

Went to the premier of Planet 51 on Tuesday and all thank to MixFM..

This movie was pretty straight forward and had a simple story line, and like every other good animation it has a moral value to it.. It seems to me that the movie is somehow like 'undercover' project as we don't hear much see much about it before its release.. What surprise me is that I ACTUALLY enjoy the movie =.=" and don't get me wrong, this is not a simply done kind of movie, and it have voice over by Dwayne Johnson (best known as The Rock) and Justin Long.. Impressive huh?

The movie is about the reverse of what we often see.. It is us, human who invade the alien planet..Things started to get interesting when Captain Charles landed his foot on this planet filled with green living.. Like human, they do get panic too and Lem (voiced by Justin Long) is the one who aided Captain Charles to get back to his ship when it was under the surveillance of their military..

Again there is nothing much about the story plot, no new twist, and it is really simple, but again I actually enjoy watching the show, perhaps I have been stuffed with complicated and twisting storyline.. But still I found that this is worth while watching.. Of course those who are not into animation at all should avoid this..

A clean 3.5 out of 5 for this movie I would rate..

Beat It

MJ is long gone now but his spirit never die, even till now everyone is still beating it to his rhythm..

Beat it was one of MJ hits song back in the 80s and my dad said I dance to it too when I was young..

Since the popularity of the song, there are multiple dupe to it, first we have the indian version

Then we have the chinese version

Then we have the Malay version too

Even the westerners not wanting to lose out too so we have the english version itself

I've just celebrated Xmas 09 yesterday

Well at least that is what I felt after watching the premier screening of A Christmas Carol last night by Nuffnang..

Since it is a remake film, there wouldn't be any spoiler here as those who have watched it knows the content of this film.. So here they are the plot of the film

On Christmas Eve in Victorian England, Ebenezer Scrooge, a bitter and miserly old moneylender, holds everything that embodies the joys and spirit of Christmas in contempt, refusing to visit his cheerful nephew Fred's Christmas dinner party with his family, and forcing his underpaid employee Bob Cratchit to beg to take the day off for his own family. That night, Scrooge is visited by the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley, who had died seven years prior on Christmas Eve and is now forced to spend his afterlife carrying heavy chains forged from his own greedy ways. Marley warns Scrooge that he will suffer an even worse fate if he doesn't repent, and foretells that he will be haunted by three spirits that will help guide him.

The first spirit, the Ghost of Christmas Past, shows Scrooge visions of his own past that take place on or around the Christmas season, reminding him of how he ended up the greedy man he is now. He had spent much of his childhood neglected by his father over the holidays at boarding school until he was finally brought home by his loving sister Fan, who died prematurely after giving birth to his nephew Fred. Scrooge later began a successful career in business and moneylending and became engaged to a woman named Belle, though she later called off the engagement when he began to grow obsessed with accumulating his own wealth. Unable to bear having to witness these events again, Scrooge extinguishes the spirit.

The second spirit, the Ghost of Christmas Present, shows Scrooge the happiness of his fellow men on Christmas day. Among them are his nephew Fred, who playfully makes jokes with his family at Scrooge's expense, and Bob Cratchit and his family, who are just barely able to make do with what little pay Scrooge gives Cratchit. The Cratchits also tend to a sickly young son, Tiny Tim, whose commitment to the spirit of Christmas touches Scrooge, who is dismayed to learn from the spirit that he may not have much longer to live. Before the spirit vanishes, it warns Scrooge about the evils of Ignorance and Want, showing them as terrifying, uncivilized children doomed to grow into savage, despicable individuals.

The third and final spirit, the Ghost of Christmas Yet to Come, shows Scrooge the final consequences of his greed. Tiny Tim has died, leaving the Cratchits to mourn him on Christmas. Scrooge has also died, though there is more comfort than grief in the wake of his funeral. In addition, Fred finds benefit from inheriting his wealth, and Scrooge is even robbed by his former maid. Unwilling to let this grim future come to pass, Scrooge begs to be given a second chance as the spirit forces him into his deep and empty grave leading all the way to Hell.

Scrooge awakens to find himself in his bed on Christmas morning, the three spirits having guided him over the course of one night, and immediately sets out to atone for his sins, making donations to the poor, attending Fred's dinner party, and giving Cratchit a raise to care for his family, allowing Tiny Tim to live. Scrooge spends the remainder of his life a new man embodying the spirit of Christmas itself.

What is awesome here is the texture of everything as well as the expression and all in the movie, and oh ya I watched it in 3D and it is so freaking real that I could even hear Jim Carrey's breathe.. Everyone should go catch it as everything every angle was so detailed.. I have additional passes tonight but will be giving out to others so that they can enjoy the spirit of xmas too.. I will be heading to planet 51 instead tonight..

It was my first time watching 3D in Cathay E@Curve and the experience was awesome.. I would rate it 4/5 for everything and the lacking 1 star is for lacking of originality..

Mom, I'm on TV =.="
