Christmas 2008

Just a day before Christmas eve I went to 1 Utama shopping center alone for premier screening of The Spirit. As usual after the redemption, there is still plenty of time before the show and I went to shop for Christmas gift. Agreed to tag in a party on Christmas eve and that include present exchange too. So I bought a set of TV photo frame.

Likewise 1 Utama decorated its centre court with Christmas decoration too and I think the theme would be wonderland?

You can see that the feel is more like "Alice in the wonderland" world. However the best Christmas decoration award have to goto The Curve. Too bad I didn't manage to capture a single shot for it.

Went in to GSC for the movie and honestly speaking it is one heck of weird movie to me. I thought superhero movie should be at least good if not superb but heck I was wrong. The only thing is that the hero came back to life after death. He doesn't have any superpower and he is woman killer. I wouldn't even recommend anyone to watch that even if you are bored to death. Not worth 2 hour of your time.

Maybe I'm not a fan of the comic itself that I don't get the joke, I don't get the plot, and I don't get the point of the movie at all.

Sad enough that I couldn't make it to the BBQ party but still I receive this bicycle photo frame from my friend. I get a hand made Christmas card from my cousin too, and also another yet-to-open-present.

Xmas Present - Photo frame and handmade card from my cute little cousin

2008 is the best Christmas I have so far. Wake up early in the morning and headed to City Harvest Church in Sunway with Joan, and to my surprise I actually love it there, they have live band, and touching drama too, but it was short though. Then we headed back to my house to jam around with my drum set.
We haven't really catch a breathe, is time for the next plan, went to play badminton in Seigi College in Kota Damansara. Luck was not with us and ended up playing basketball and jogging in Bukit Kiara with Chloe, Jerry, Carmen, Bao Bao, and Ah Bing while Xin Ke and Joan went to shop.

When night falls, we drive all the way to hulu langat for a drink and chit chat and after that we call the day off.

Was a very fullfulling Christmas and am looking forward for next year celebration. Thank you guys for the wonderful day!

Guess what is in this?

Eye-Pee Man (IP Man)

Headed to Mid Valley Megamall for the premier screening of IP Man (pronounced as "Yip Mun" / 葉問), and thank to Era FM for the invitation.

Just before the show start, walked around the mall with Joan to shop for present for upcoming xmas party. Sadly I couldn't join the gang for the party as I might have to be standby for some project implementation. Before we event really went to hunt for the present was attracted by a big crowd and out of busybodiness I went to have a look. It was nothing much but some xmas performance. Here it is.

And soon the show started. To my surprise, the hall is not full and there are still quite a number of vacant seat.

Ip Man is actually Bruce Lee's master if you don't know. In olden days wushu / kung fu center can be seen all over the street in china and each master (sifu) from individual center likes to challenge each other to a fight to determine who is better, and at that time fu shan is famous for kung fu hub. The director packed everything into a 1 hour 39 minute show and therefore you will see it jump from scene to scene. No doubt Donnie Yen is good in martial art and each and every strike is awesome but I still think he is lack of some factor which probably make him even greater star.

The part I love best is that Ip Man uses his fist to unite everyone in China when the Japanese invaded the country. He is also pioneer in promoting and preserving Wing Chun.

Overall it would be best if there are more fight a.k.a action than dialogue.

Will this work

I heard over the radio station Fly FM past few days and they were discussing about this little reward program which happen in on small area of Malaysia. Basically the reward range from RM1 to RM5 for each illegal banner you manage to take down. The rate depend on the size of the banner of cause. There is this man in that particular area who earn around RM2k by just doing so.

they event come up with some catchy slogan: Kami Bukan Along, Kami Cuma Nak Tolong

Come to think of it is does sound like a good idea.. one raise two get.. it can help to keep that area clean from illegal, irritating, and annoying banner and you could get yourself some second source of income too. However the concern is this, where does the money (reward) come from? Taxpayer money? I don't know. The authority shouldn't use any of the tax payer money to run this campaign after all that is by right the responsibility of the authority.

Those that had live in Malaysia before, you should know that placing up illegal banner is way faster than taking it down. Thus the authority alone might not able to clear all the banner off the street.

If the authority doesn't have sufficient budge to run this campaign, they should make those who posted up the illegal banner pay instead.

Yes Man

This is yet another Jim Carey's latest movie before ending the year of 2008 and is called Yes Man.

From the movie title, it is understood that it is about a guy who basically said no to everything and the word yes evolve into his life and things started to change positively or negatively. In short A guy challenges himself to say "yes" to everything for a new start in life.
Not going to add in any spoiler.. This is just another normal pace movie.. How tonight premier IP Man is nice.. Till then.. stay tune for the update..

*Will snap the awesome invitation pass tonight too.

Update
The premier screening invitation card with pop up effect.

Webshot

You have probably heard of print screen (screen shot) which basically allow you to capture what you see on screen.
Print screen (often abbreviated Prt Scr, Print Scrn, Prt Scn, Prt Sc or Prnt Scrn) is a key present on most keyboards, typically situated in the same section as the break key and scroll lock key.
However sometime you would want to 'screen shot' a whole webpage which its length is more than 1 single page (with scroll down bar), and this free tools may aid you. It is called Webshot.
WebShot allows you to take screenshots of web pages and save them as full sized images or thumbnails. Screenshots images can be output in the JPG, GIF, PNG, or BMP formats

Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging

Just came back from the premier screening of this movie in 1 Utama, GSC.

The show is about a girl named Georgia overcoming the trauma of being a teenager. She is not the coolest girl in school and she have her own gang for their activities. They started to get attracted to 2 new comer to their school and like every teenage, they try anything to gain attention from the new comer. Things started to get abit twisted when everything Georgia thought was working as planned turn out to back-fire on herself. Till the end of the movie, she realize that being who she is is essential to a relationship.

Although I love action and comedy more than any other genre, I would still say this is not a bad movie after all. It kinda flash back to when I was young, what me and my best friend did together.

Crime, Crime, Crime

Lately there has been quite a number of crime happen to people I known in person. Hope I could make you aware and take pre-cautious steps after reading this post.

1. Car Crime Alert

Never ever leave anything valuable / look valuable in your car. Anything that gain attention should be carry with you or kept in places that is not visible to others. These professional thieve can just break your car windshield with just one blow and your belonging will be gone in just few seconds.
Don't carry unnecessary things (like laptop) when not in use and do not expose your handbag by putting it in passenger seat while driving.

2. Bargain

If someone come to you and offer you something with irresistible price, think thrice.
Bargain rarely come looking for you, unless there is a catch

3. Crowd

Whether you are crossing the road, taking the LRT, in a public party, concert, or any countdown celebration, be sure to take good care of your belonging. Simply putting it in your pocket is just not save. You need to make sure that it is there in your pocket all the time and not being swap when someone bumped into you.
KL is always crowded and with crowd comes plenty of wallet, phone, mp3 player and much more. They are all designed to fit easily into your pocket, and for pickpocket it can be lifted out easily.

4. Stranger

Don't judge stranger at face value

5. Good Samaritan

If someone comes up to you and says may I have some money not matter what's the reason is, think twice. This often happen when we are dining in some restaurant and half way through the meal, some one came along and started asking for donation. Think again.
To prevent from getting conned, ask for the charity address and donate directly to the center instead.
Never fall for the trick when some tourist approached you asking offering you to exchange currency at rate you couldn't believe. They might try to pass your counterfeit note. Instead, redirect them to the nearest currency exchange center.
One of the most powerful tool a conman can use is greed. If someone offer you the chance to triple your money, will you take it?
If you can helping some less fortune people around town (like crossing the road, going down the stairs, and etc) be sure to watch out for your belonging especially your watch, you might not realize it until you want to know the time.

6. Online Shopping

Read and re-read all the terms and condition stated by the seller. Ensure that you are purchasing what you expected. There have been report where buyer receive their 'goods' in printout copy or miniature size instead of the actual unit. Do your research well. Go through seller's profile and read through his/her testimonial. Feel free to ask if there is any doubt. Opt for COD (Cash On Delivery) method if available so that you could check the goods before paying. Remember not to pay via wireless / public network as it could be easily hijack to steal your sensitive data.
Once the money change hand, you lose everything including bargain power.

Space Chimps

How nice could it be? Sending a bunch of monkey to space for the sake of an experiment. I never thought it would be plain lame when I went for the premier screening of the movie. I can't seems to find the matching word to describe the movie but heck, not even the children will enjoy such movie. They there trying too hard trying to be funny and ended up so lame that you will eventually yawn through the movie.

So if anyone planning to watch the movie, do re-consider as there are plenty more awesome movie on the screening list. My advice, even if this is the only movie you have not watch, go entertain yourself with something else. You wouldn't want to waste ard 2 hour of your life for this.

Best cake ever

Last week Chee Chin brought me a slice of cake that she bake. At first glance it looks pretty delicious although it look ordinary and it kinda bring back my childhood memory. The delivery was made right up to my office door steps.
I keep it till lunch cause usually I don't take lunch when I'm in my office and the only reason is that the food here are so expensive that I would rather die in hunger.

Upon the first bite, it felt like heaven. The cheese cake is not only filled with cheese, it is also stuff with blue berry, sesame, oat, and some other stuff I think.

You made my day, hope to taste more of different type of cake in coming future. =P
I hereby sincerely thank you for everything.

Spoiled with choice

Receive two invitation to two different movie, and when it comes to movie, I love watching all of them if possible. First off receive a call from fly fm telling that I have won passes to the movie The Day Earth Stood Still, and then follow by another call from youthsays for the movie Bolt 3D, yea with the glasses.

Wish I could still somehow get invitation for the movie

So in the end decided to head for Bolt 3D screening in TGV KLCC

Anything below this line contain spoiler to the movie.

Bolt is a hollywood dog with the mission to protect his owner, Penny who wants to save her dad from the green eye man. Bolt is brought up thinking that he have super powers but upon leaving his comfort zone only he realize that he is just like any other dog. The journey begin when he decided to go back to look for Penny which he initially though was kidnap by the green eye man.

Well the movie isn't what I've expected, maybe I was expecting too much or it was overrated. But somehow watching it with 3D glasses make it look cool. As if everything is floating out of the screen and it is a great experience watching it in 3D.

The danger of GPS

Lately there have been increasing number of outlet around Kuala Lumpur / Selangor that is promoting GPS navigation system which can be plug into your vehicle and the device should be able to bring you around town without worry. GPS device comes in many different type/size. Some can be plug and play instantly, some have to be install into the vehicle, while others are portable and/or integrated into your phone.

The Global Positioning System (GPS) is a satellite-based navigation system made up of a network of 24 satellites placed into orbit by the U.S. Department of Defense. GPS was originally intended for military applications, but in the 1980s, the government made the system available for civilian use. GPS works in any weather conditions, anywhere in the world, 24 hours a day. There are no subscription fees or setup charges to use GPS.

As a GPS user myself, you can assure 90% accuracy reaching your desired destination. Like credit card, it is indeed very helpful tools but if you don't take precautious step it might end up as harmful as it could (brankupcy, debts, stolen identity, etc). Here are a fews issue you should consider while using it.

1. Set before you go
Be sure to pick your destination before you start your journey. Never select while you are driving, it will cause danger not only to you but other road users.

2. GPS holder

For those who have their GPS integrated in their phone, it is adviced to get a GPS holder so that your gadget doesnt fall off when you are making turn or break. Be sure that the device is not blocking your view on the road.

3. Preset my favorite / home
Those application in market is getting more and more competative and thus vendor of such application tend to add in more and more little function that act as add on provide more values to its customer. Adding in favorite place and/or home can be convenience with just one touch the system is able to bring you home or to your favorite spot.
On the dark side, it could be dangerous too. Imagine if someone stole your gadget or you lost your phone and someone pick it up, or worse someone hijacked your car with the GPS in, that person can easily locate where you live and plan on how to get in to your house.

4. Trust your instinct too
Personally, I'm using Mapking on my HTC P3600i and I find it difficult to differentiate which route to pick when there is a flyover and the 'non-flyover' path. It seems that the application that I'm using is not able to tell (or I don't know how to read it.. yet) whether or not I should take the flyover. Never make any last minute decision even though you are already heading to the wrong path, do proceed and your GPS will reroute you back to the correct path.

Like credit card, if you take precaution steps, the application / device can be in great aid especially when you have limited time to explore new places.

Inspirational Clip

Nick Vujicic was born in Melbourne, limbless, missing both arms at shoulder level, and having one small foot with two toes protruding from his left thigh.

If he can make million (if not billion) without arms and legs, think of what you could do with your arms and legs. One of his quote
You keep on concentrating things that you have over things that you didn't have, and you sort of forget what you do have

Salute to the man who never give up.

Smiling Moon

Today 1st December 2008, saw someone posted on the net asking everyone to have a peek at the moon. As usual I just read through, but then I started to receive text messages on my phone and follow by pm on MSN.

Out of curiosity I went out to have a look, and guess what I saw? Grey dark sky, I hope it will rain tonight as my computer is generating sufficient heat to bake me in my room.. =.=

Where is the moon? I don't really know what's wrong (or right) with the moon until my friend send me this

My guess is that we don't get to see moon in this shape, this position that often.. Is that right?
Zoom in closer

There you go.. a happy smiling moon smiling at you on Monday blues.. Happy smiling
